“Results” You have to define the results you want before anyone can assess what to use to get the right people to you site.

Also, what does “spent big” mean? Big to you might be a drop to other advertisers.

You get relevant traffic by showing your content to the right audience. This is an audience that thinks your content is important enough to take time out of their day to read or view your content.

Spending big on social is a mistake many people make, because they lack well thought out targeting or planned outcomes.

For example, just “boosting” a post on Facebook usually leads to no results. Facebook likes to tell people to boost posts. So a person spends some money to boost a post and thinks they are going to get sales or leads or something. What they fail to realize is that they are asking Facebook to give this post more engagement, which is likes, comments, shares and reactions.

So coming up with a plan and a budget to use on social media is important to getting results.

Other ways to get traffic are using influencers.

You could use solo emails.

You could use Search Engine Optimization.

The honest truth is that if you aren’t getting people to visit, then your targeting and your offer is off.

You can think about testing different concepts and ideas through smaller paid ads.

if it works you can increase the budget, if it fails, you stop spending on that one post.

Move on to the next post and try again.

The issue with the “boos a post” method is that most people see it as one shot, rather than testing a bunch of posts and adding to the winner.

Even big name sites test their content to see which headline, post and image will perform best.

So it’s not that social media advertising “doesn’t work” it’s really that you are just doing it wrong.

Think about resetting your expectations. Use smaller budges for more posts.

Test different variations. Have a plan. Understand your target market and visitor.

Using boosted posts from Facebook you can choose which audience you target. This is key to make sure you are promoting to an audience that cares.

Use Facebook Ad Manager to create campaigns that match what you want your outcome to be.

if you want leads use a conversion campaign optimized for leads. Send people to a landing page designed to collect emails.
