A few months ago Facebook removed self reported targeting ability, when it was discovered that people were self reporting hateful job titles and descriptions that were against Facebook’s community standards. The numbers were small but the public impact was felt across Facebook by advertisers.
From Facebook “to help ensure that targeting is not used for discriminatory purposes, we are removing these self-reported targeting fields until we have the right processes in place to help prevent this issue.” (link September 14, 2017)
Since that time Facebook removed a reported 30,000 targetable self reported items and has re-added around 5000.
So for some time you were unable to target people by title or position if it were a self reported item.
Currently you can target some titles for instance:
(Demographics>Work>Job Titles [Search])
Next is the ability to target industries:
And finally you can target job roles:
(this hides under “Behaviors> Job Role”)
You can also target some companies, but not nearly as broadly as you could previously. (Oct 2017)
this isn’t as nice as being able to target “Company name” Narrowed by “CEO” but it will still narrow the targeting down to reach the right people for most common targeting uses.
one additional layer to use if you want to be really specific is to look up the address of the headquarters, where the C-Suite sites.
Then you can target:
Industry -narrowed by – Corporate Executives – narrowed by – Location (go small)
